Providing compassionate, culturally competent counseling to first responders and their families

Photo of Clint Christie

Welcome to Clint Christie Counseling. As a retired third-generation professional firefighter from Southern California, the fire service was a calling for me, and it became a fulfilling career and a wonderful life.

However, as I progressed in my career, I witnessed firsthand the pain and suffering that many of my colleagues endured from exposure to workplace trauma as well as the physical demands of the profession. Sometimes first responders use alcohol as a way of decompressing after a series of long days at work. If unchecked, this can lead to larger health issues as well strife within a marriage. I assist first responders in finding healthy coping mechanisms to counterbalance the effects of a high demand profession.

With the second half of my life, I wanted to make a difference by helping first responders live their best lives and support those who risk their lives to protect our communities.

Whether you’re a firefighter, police officer, dispatcher, lifeguard, EMT, doctor, or nurse, these are high-demand careers that demand a lot from you and your family at home. The pandemic only heightened the challenges you face daily as a first responder who took an oath to serve the community.

As a counselor, I provide personalized, holistic, and collaborative counseling to first responders and their families. With my own firsthand experience, I understand the nuances of first responder life and the challenges it can create both at work and home. My goal is to create a safe space where you can receive the support you need to thrive both personally and professionally.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

First Responders

I work with individuals who are experiencing a range of challenges related to their work as first responders. These may include workplace stress, or life stress associated with balancing work and home life, and relationships with their partner and family.

Couples & Families

If you're here, chances are you are looking for support and guidance on how to navigate the unique challenges that come with relationships and family life when one or more of you are first responders.

Children & Teens

Being a first responder can come with unique challenges that can affect the entire family, particularly children and teens. It's not easy for children and teens to grow up with a parent who is a first responder.

Life Transition

I work with individuals who are navigating significant life transitions. This can include college students, individuals who are retiring from a long career, as a civilian or first responder, or survivors of an acquired brain injury or stroke.
